Grow Black Hair Long (Part 3)

Hey guys. Hope your week went well? I hope you had a blast this weekend. I really want to stick to a particular routine but it just seems harder every week. Whatever the case, you know my posts will come in before Mondays. This is part three of the series grow black hair long. Forgive my writing, I had a headache while writing this. I suggest you read part 1 and part 2 of the series before you proceed. So, where were we? Ah... yes.

Trims

In as much as we want our hair to grow long, we can't just leave blunt ends unattended to because this could result in split ends which would eventually lead to nonstop breakage. At this stage it becomes irreparable and the hair has to be virtually CHOPPED off...lol. Wouldn't you rather avoid all this and just get a trim? It could also be overdone because too much of it may result in no retention at all. I have heard of people being advised to get a trim every 6 weeks!!! This is not really necessary. Let us give an example; we know that "African" hair grows on an average of half an inch per month( if you didn't already I have another pending post on this), and in two months one inch. When you get a trim at the 6 weeks mark, half an inch is cut off and we are left with 1/4 inch of hair gained... lol I can't laugh. I think using 6 months is enough time spaced out to get trims. At the end of the year more inches will be gained as opposed to the inches gained from trimming every six weeks. The message here is get a trim, but don't over do it.

Relaxing/Texlaxing

It has been advised that hair should not be relaxed more often than eight weeks to prevent overprocessed hair. Relax only the roots to prevent over processing of hair. Oils help to prevent over processing. Texlaxing is simply relaxing hair but still retaining texture and not bone straight results. More info on how to relax in a separate post.

Focus on length retention
We already know that hair grows; what we need to focus on is how to retain length. Incorporating all these methods can help us in achieving this.

No. 10
Patience
These results take time and require patience and determination. Black hair really does grow nobody should tell you otherwise. Take pictures and track your progress to motivate you. Check hair blogs for loads and loads of tips. Well what do you know? We are done and 10 tips exactly. Good luck on your hair journey!! Have a great week!!
